The grapes to produce Cabernet Sauvignon Domaine des Pourthié were macerated on the skins extracting flavour, aromas and fine tannins. The Cabernet Sauvignon Domaine des Pourthié fermentation took place in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve the fruity varietal characteristics of Cabernet Sauvignon and lasted for two weeks.
The grapes are grown in gravelly clay-limestone soils, which were formed during the Ice Age, and are dispersed with deposits from the ancient Hérault riverbed.
Domaine de Pourthié is an estate of 60 hectares, situated near Agde, a few kilometres from the Mediterranean. It is now in the hands of the fourth generation of the Pourthié family. The vineyards are located on a ridge formed during the Ice Age, where the soils are gravelly clay and limestone. The Mediterranean warmth and sea breezes combined with the terroir, help to ripen the grapes harmoniously and maximise their aromas. Domaine des Pourthié has recently been updated with modern equipment, leading to more sophisticated methods of vinification. These are classically styled Languedoc wines.
