The Château Grand-Puy Ducasse is an outstanding winery situated in the prestigious terroirs of Pauillac on the left bank of Bordeaux. Established in the distant year of 1675 and classified as a Fifth Growth (Quinto Cru Classé), the estate stands out for the precision with which its wines reflect the Pauillac terroir, showcasing a robust structure and extraordinary aging potential.
The vineyard spans 40 hectares divided into three expansive parcels, with vines approximately 25 years old planted in Garonne gravel and siliceous-gravelly soils. The new label, unveiled on the occasion of its 200th harvest, commemorates the estate’s history dating back to 1675, incorporating the domain’s coat of arms and the historical motto “Regis Semper Amici,” emphasizing the ancient bond between the Ducasse and Duroy de Suduiraut families.
The renowned graphic identity is part of the visionary project called “Renaissance” by Château Grand-Puy Ducasse, which includes significant renovations of the vat room and cellar.
The Château Grand-Puy Ducasse 2020, a result of an early harvest, is crafted from an assemblage of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Vinification occurs in temperature-regulated stainless steel vats, with some lots completing malolactic fermentation in new barrels. Aging takes place in French oak barrels, 35% of which are new.
Tasting this wine reveals extraordinary quality, with aromatic richness reflecting the beauty of the vintage. The wine presents a sunny, rich, spicy, velvety character yet remains fresh and tense, bearing the signature of the estate’s finest vintages. The cuvée promises significant aging potential, solidifying Château Grand-Puy Ducasse’s reputation as a producer of high-quality Pauillac red wines.
