The grapes to produce Tempranillo “By George” Fox Gordon were fermented for 10 days and then racked to tank for two weeks of lees work, to build texture and finish fermentation. The young Tempranillo “By George” Fox Gordon was then aged in French oak puncheons imparting subtle oak character to the wine while still retaining the vibrancy of the fruit.
The Fox Gordon vineyards are situated on 60 hectares of breathtaking vineyard at Kuitpo Forest in the Adelaide Hills and overlooking the world famous McLaren Vale. Planted at altitude, the grapes are imbued with lovely cool-climate characteristics. The fruit for this wine is picked from an old single trellised vineyard, where the vines produce large plump berries.
