The Vitovska Venezia Giulia IGT Skerk is produced with pure grapes of the homonymous vine, grown in Ograde, the watershed between Italy and Slovenia. In the vineyard the dictates of organic farming are followed, therefore chemicals are banned with the help of only a little copper and sulfur. In the cellar we proceed with the same mentality, therefore we proceed with spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in wooden barrels and maceration for a few days on the skins. No clarification or filtration before bottling.
Vitovska by Skerk is an amazing border white, witness to one of the best hands in the world of artisanal wine. When we talk about Sandi Skerk and his wines we are speaking in our opinion of one of the most sensitive producers of the Karst, able like few others to combine the vigorous contribution of the skins in the vinification phase to a style that is always elegant and enjoyable.
The Skerk Winery was founded in 1990 and is located in an arid and difficult area of the Karst Plateau, 250 meters above sea level. The six hectares of vineyards, located in inaccessible and inaccessible areas, enjoy a mild and temperate climate, due to the proximity of the sea and their red, barren and stony soil is rich in limestone and iron, essential elements for the production of quality grapes. In the vineyard, invasive treatments are banned and absolutely natural procedures are preferred in the cellar. The cellar itself is a cave dug into the limestone rock which, by ensuring the right balance between humidity and temperature, allows the wines to mature perfectly in oak barrels.
